Brainstem integration
What does our brainstem do?
The brainstem houses the nuclei of a majority of our cranial nerves. Our brainstem performs vital functions like controlling heart rate, blood flow, breathing rate, digestion, eye movements, facial movements, facial sensation, vestibular system, tongue and mouth control.
How do I know if my brainstem needs integrated?
The reality is our brain stem is needed for virtually every aspect of survival. When there is decreased function of the brain stem symptoms can include tremor/muscle spasms, emotional changes or outbursts, obsessive compulsivity, increased sensitivity to light our sound, light headedness, visual snow or other visual changes, excessive or inappropriate sweating, increased heart rate, and fainting.
Ways we use brainstem integration
Eye movement therapy
Orthostatic retraining
Vestibular training
Visceral manipulation
