ROOT CAUSE OF DYSFUNCTION
Are you dealing with recurring or never ending symptoms? Have you tried multiple attempts to get your health under control without success? This may because you are missing the root cause of your dysfunction. When we experience symptoms or pain, that is our body’s way of sounding the alarm system that something isn’t right. Often times the driver of the dysfunction begins somewhere other than where the pain or symptoms present. We must further investigate the root cause of your symptoms.
GUT DYSBIOSIS
Our gut is often referred to as our second brain. Throughout our gut we have a microbiome. We have an oral microbiome in our mouth as well! A microbiome is an ideal environment for which bacteria to live to help us digest and process what we consume for energy and nutrition. If our oral or gut microbiome is disrupted there are many well known symptoms that can appear. These symptoms include fatigue, poor memory, brain fog, hypoglycemia, vaginal discharge/itching, irritability, moodiness, depression, constipation, diarrhea, hypothyroidism, hypoadrenia, insomnia, headaches, sinusitis, abdominal pain, bloating, obesity, inability to lose weight, prostatitis, PMS, chronic rashes, itching, rectal itching, food sensitivities, and chemical sensitivities.
Gut dysbiosis can be driven by many factors. Alcohol based mouth washes kill the bacteria in our mouth, which disrupts our oral microbiome. Antibiotics kill good and bad bacteria in our gut, disrupting our gut microbiome. These are common, every day uses for many that can actually be causing more harm than good.
HIDDEN INFECTIONS
A hidden infection can lie seemingly dormant without the host ever displaying direct outward symptoms. Hidden infections can come from fungus, bacteria, and viral sources. Hidden infections and stealth pathogens can attack our thyroid, our immune system, and our endocrine system. When these systems are attacked the possibility of symptoms becomes endless. By only treating symptoms, and not the root cause, hidden infections continue to remain in our body with more and more symptoms continuing to appear or never fully resolving.
These hidden infections create biofilms to live in our body undetected. A biofilm is a complex matrix of fibrin, bacterial breakdown, and polysaccharides that envelop a pathogen. The purpose of the biofilm is to trick the immune system by hiding the pathogen. The biofilm then goes on to house colonies of various microbes that continue to drive dysfunction and create symptoms and poor health.
HOW IT STARTS
The gut-brain axis is a 2 way communication channel between our gut and our brain. This communication channel plays an important role in the health of our brain and our nervous system. Many of our hormones and our immune system are directly related to the health of our gut.
HOW IT DEVELOPS
Our brain and autonomic nervous system health is directly correlated to our metabolic health and the food we consume, or don’t consume.
In order for our gut to function properly, we must be able to send adequate amount of blood to use as energy to process our food and regulate digestion. Our circulating hormones play a never-ending role in this process to adequately breakdown, digest, and either use, eliminate, or store the energy we are consuming. This is all regulated and controlled by our brain.
HOW IT AFFECTS US
If our metabolic health and gut function is altered, the autonomic nervous system will also be altered.
Our brain accounts for 20% of an individual’s energy expenditure at rest. This means that 1/5 of all of the fuel and energy in our body is being used by our brain. Now, lets think about how our brain is reacting to our body’s metabolic health. The brain is in charge of coordinating every tissue, organ, gland, cell, and molecule in our body. If our body is being riddled with toxic food, household chemicals, stored emotional trauma, and physical trauma there is absolutely no way that the health of our brain is not being directly affected.
HOW WE FIX IT
If you are like many others, you have tried ALL of the possibilities to get your metabolic health under control.
We are here to say it may be time for a NEW APPROACH to change your metabolic health.
Often times the missing link to our metabolic health is HEALING OUR BRAIN to HEAL OUR GUT AND METABOLIC HEALTH.

The importance of metabolic health
In 2025 we are faced with the reality of being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. Some of you reading may have heard of this, while others have not. The first question is always what is metabolic syndrome? When you Google metabolic syndrome you may get something called Syndrome X or other factors that make up metabolic syndrome. At its core metabolic syndrome is a predisposition to lifestyle diseases caused by lifestyle factors.
The criteria that make up metabolic syndrome is having a combination of health markers and symptoms. Being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome doesn’t necessarily mean that something is wrong, but something definitely is not right. This includes a waist line over 35” for females and 40” for males, high triglycerides, high fasting glucose, low LDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, and others. The dangerous combination of symptoms put those individuals at risk for diabetes, strokes, and heart attacks.
Metabolic health and your brain
Our brain accounts for 20% of an individual’s energy expenditure at rest. This means that 1/5 of all of the fuel and energy in our body is being used by our brain. Now, lets think about how our brain is reacting to our body’s metabolic health. The brain is in charge of coordinating every tissue, organ, gland, cell, and molecule in our body. If our body is being riddled with toxic food, household chemicals, stored emotional trauma, and physical trauma there is absolutely no way that the health of our brain is not being directly affected.
In our body exists what is called the gut-brain axis. This is a 2 way communication channel between our gut and our brain. This communication channel plays an important role in the health of our brain and our nervous system. Many of our hormones and our immune system are directly related to the health of our gut (or as we now know, the health of our brain also).
Brain based care for metabolism
We say that healing the gut can heal the brain. Is the brain really healed or are the symptoms no longer disrupting our life? The truth is, without evaluating the brain and nervous system there is no way to tell. Through a brain based evaluation we can understand how the brain and nervous system is functioning. When we improve the health and function of the brain this improves the health and function of our nervous system. It is our nervous system that controls the health and function of our gut. Through strategic brain based healthcare we can impact the overall health of our metabolism to help reduce and eliminate our symptoms.
